Genre tags: Horror Old West Diceless | Time to saddle up and hit the range pardner! Things haven't been the same in Ghost Creek since they found a vein of ghost rock. Now all these ornery critters are squabblin and fightin over the ghost rock and the winner gets all of it. The loser? Well he gets a bullet in the head for his trouble. Range Wars is the next generation in Disk Wars games. The folks at Pinnacle and Fantasy Flight Games have teamed up to create one of the best table top games to date! You get to pick from one of eight factions (Including the Law Dogs and the Black Jacks). The rules have been improved from the Diskwars game and terrain and buildings have been added to the mix. Buildings play a key part in this game because they not only generate income but also victory points. If you haven't heard how movement and such works in a diskwars game yet, I will explain it to you. Each disk has a movement raiting and it can flip end over end equal to it's movement raiting. Combat is as simple as finding the bullet rating of your character and tossing bullets. Damage is done by how many land face up on the table. As for the disks themselves each of them sport beautiful art done by very talented artists. My favorite disk out of the set that I reviewed was Vulcan , the Mechanical man. A hulking giant that has a gatling gun mounted on his shoulder. So if you want to try your hand at wargaming and don't have the patience to paint all those little lead figures, try Range Wars! It's a great game and it's well worth the $9.95 you pay for it! See ya out on the range pardner! Style: 5 (Excellent!) Substance: 5 (Excellent!) | |
