Fluid Mechanics, at it's simplest, expands on the hardware, cyberware, bioware, and vehicles found in the world of Blue Planet™. It is a catalog of future technology that your PCs can purchase. In that respect, it is the Street Samurai Catalog and Shadowtech combined.

Inside is tools for every Blue Planet™ PC, whether they are a Geo Marshal getting his standard issue Peacemaker or a Zeno-marine Biologist getting his top of the line submersible. Whether they are a Industrial Spy or a cetacean tour guide, the catalog provides more detail in a completely detailed world.

For instance, your paramedic can have access to the latest treatments for various forms of physical trauma: from the trauma cuff to antibiotics tooled for Posiedon's unique organisms.

Need the latest in cyberware and bioware? Modify your human with the Agility Chip, cyber-ears, cyber-eyes, an adrenal shunt, and an organ composite. Your dolphin character needs that extra speed? Perhaps you can get your Fin autonomic streamlining, and muscular enhancement.

Besides that, there is a catalog of weapons available as well. Sasers, diamond knives, and stun guns are available. There is even a descendant of Mace (for those characters who are attacked by thugs).

Then there are vehicles. From submersibles to hover craft spacecraft, player characters will have more vehicles to choose from, and ride in, in the World of Blue Planet.

Also, there is a discourse on how Cyberware and Bioware are viewed in society. From indifference by humans to stark distrust by cetaceans, cyberware has a reputation as being unnatural modification. Bioware is the opposite: Genetic Redesigns are met with wide emotions among humans (mostly in the negative), while dolphins and orcas accept biogenetic modification.

In conclusion, Fluid Mechanics can expand the Blue Planet universe by giving player characters more choices as to how they can get around on Posiedon and in Society, defend themselves, modify themselves, and give themselves a technological advantage in roughing it. The book is useful, but probably not needed for some Blue Planet campaigns. I give it a 3 for presentation and a 4 for substance.

Style: 3 (Average)
Substance: 4 (Meaty)
