Champions: The New Millennium
C:TNM bring players to a new campaign world in the
future of Hero Games' Champions Universe, while also introducing
the new Fuzion game system that Hero Games and R. Talsorian Games
have created.
The Campaign The campaign starts at the turn of the century, and has allowed the world of the Champions Universe to start over, by killing off and reorganizing a majority of existing characters and organizations. What is left is recognizable, but includes some different origins and altered histories that solid Champions Universe players will notice. The new stable of characters are interesting and seem to follow along with what is currently popular in the comics. The section of the book that covers the history and characters is done well. A comic book storyline is started with the new characters, and some of the history is told through splash pages of newspaper articles. The reader is given lots of information in regards to the current Champions team and the city they operate within. If the players are going to take place in the Champions city it is done nicely, if the players are going to play the Champions it is even better. Fuzion: Character Creation The generation rules are easily recognizable to those players familiar with 4th Edition Hero Games. The players spend points to buy characteristics, skills/talents/perks/equipment, and powers. Instead of a single pool to draw upong the player has a pool for each area. This seems to create more well defined characters, it can confuse those characters unfamiliar with point spending games. Character creation is also made interesting with the addition of Life Paths and Origin Paths. The paths adds a means for those players that have trouble coming up with a backgrounds. The paths also can be fun to find or create a background that can be worked into a character. The main flaw is that the rules are not complete, there are several plug-ins that need expanding, which will be done with additional supplements. Overall
The campaign can add an interesting future for those
4th Edition Hero Games players looking to starting
a Champions campaign over. The character generation rules are
not complete enough to really compete with the current 4th
Edition rules, but can be used to bring new players into existing
games.
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
