It's been a while since I wrote a review. Anyways, Brawl is the fast-paced, realtime card game (not collectible, though the decks are all different) from Cheapass Games. Playable with 2 or more players, each player represents a different fighter - with different strengths and weaknesses - who is trying to win a Brawl. The game can also be played turn based. I'll review it as a real time game first, though, then make some comments on the turn based. Anybody who has played Falling should recognize some of the mechanics of Brawl. You start up with two rows between your opponent and yourself, with the possibility of one more. Each player plays cards out of his hand - or the top card off his discard pile - in an effort to get "Hits" on his opponent. These can be "Blocked", which can lead to a "Press", or "cleared" and the whole row removed. The game goes very fast. No game will ever last more than five minutes, and if you hesitate too long, you will lose. As a turn based game, the game is slightly different; you have more of a chance of picking up some strategy. It's best to start off learning Brawl by playing it turn based, then swith to real time to think on your feet. All in all this is another excellent game in the Cheapass line. With new decks at Origins, and the possibility of more, it combines the player versus player action of Buttonmen with the fast paced action of Falling. Highly recommended!
