If you are a fan of Tenchi Muyo! and not a role-player, this book will make one out of you. It's the latest from Guardians of Order and use the most streamlined version of the Tri-Stat system. With a wealth of background on the series, and many beautiful images, this book captures the "look and feel" of the Tenchi series. For those that are not familiar with the series, Tenchi Muyo! is a Japanese animation series, staring Tenchi Masaki. Tenchi is a seemingly normal boy in Japan, when, one after another, girls from all over the galaxy start dropping in on him. While the series is mostly romantic comedy, it has some serious moments. The OVA is available from Pioneer Video. This book is one of the better conversions of fiction to role- playing game. The extensive adaptation of the core "Big Eyes, Small Mouth" rules represents the world of Tenchi Muyo! perfectly. The sample adventures seem like they were written by Taro Maki, so smoothly do they fit into the OVA storyline. This book was obviously written by people who did their homework, and care about Tenchi! The only drawback, such as it is, is that they chose to save the character of Kiyone for the upcoming "Tenchi Universe" expansion. Given GOO's track record of steadily improving material, I'm sure it will be worth the wait. If you love anime, especially Tenchi Muyo! then pick up this book as soon as possible. You won't be disappointed.
