Sailor Moon Complete Book of Yoma Volume 1, is a complete guide to all of the creatures and foes that Sailor Moon and company fought and destroyed over the first 3 seasons of the popular anime saga. Despite the suppliment's excellent art, quality writting, detailed information, and, thourough research. this suppliment suffers from one serious flaw. How do you justify buying a book of use once monster De juer types that are already dead and conciquently not much of a surprise to players who know the series? This is where the product really fails. The format is a very simple "cataloge" style similar to the Cyberpunk Chrome books or AD&D Monster manuals. The core difference between Yoma and a Monster manual is that all of the monsters are inherently unique (where a D&D Player may see thousands of orcs in his life time A Sailor Moon PC would only see Game Machine Man once,if that, after all he was dispelled by Sailor Moon in Episode 21). This is the main problem of this suppliment. While as I have raved before the book meets all of the high production standards typical of Guardian of Order's products was expertly researched, and if you are a fan of the anime looking for more information on the series, this book makes a superb reference and episode guide. As a gaming book for the Sailor Moon RPG, you have to contend with the fact that this book isn't going to be the most useful book. The book does include rules for the generation of new Yoma but these are an exact copy of the rules found in the Sailor Moon core rulebook. Maybe coming up with more detailed rules is one way they could have improved this suppliment. For those Big Eyes Small Mouth Players who ae running final fantasy / anime superhero campaigns who aren't Sailormoon fans this book might give you some good ideas. It is especially useful if your players arent fans of Sailor Moon. I can recomend this book for all Otaku who want an in depth guide to all of The Sailor Scout's foes as well as accompanying art (including a set of 8 color plates of some of the more colorful Yoma) but as a "Monster Manual" for the Sailormoon RPG, it is only useful for the completeists out there and is by no means a "Must Buy" product A for effort, D for usefulness.
