Sometimes a sequel surpasses the original. DAWN OF THE DEAD. THE GODFATHER PART II. FUTUREWORLD. THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. And now, in the RPG world, IT CAME FROM THE LATE LATE LATE SHOW II- THE EXPLOITATION SEQUEL- DEMONNA'S REVENGE, a supplement featuring new rules, a new setting and adventures for IT CAME FROM THE LATE LATE LATE SHOW. The "Bad Movie" atmosphere is slightly more convincing here, and there's just plain a lot of good material.

First up, "Sagebrush Cinema"- rules for Bad Westerns. I haven't seen that many myself, but everyone knows the cliches of the pre-Eastwood Western. Good guys wear white hats, bad guys wear black ones, saloons all have tinkly piano music, etc. There's an extensive Code of the West provided in case you've forgot. There are also some cool fight rules for Shootouts (depends all on who draws first, and of course the Good Guys have the advantage) and Saloon Brawls (a clever little variation- not only does no one ever get seriously hurt, but not even Non-Lethal damage is taken. You simply get knocked out if you miss two consecutive Fame rolls.) An adventure called Showdown at Dry Gulch Station helps you get started.

The best part, though, is that the game then combines those rules with the traditional Late Show stuff for a setting featuring a western town zapped into prehistoric times- and an adventure for that setting called "Tyrannosaurus Tex." Wtih the setting information provided, a good Director should have no problem crankin' out sequels.

Two adventures follow, both originally published in the First edition supplements. MUMMY DEAREST is an interesting little horror film that abruptly changes gears midway through, throwing players for a loop, much like the film it partially parodies. (Interestingly enough, one of the names seems to have been changed from the original printing. I don't know why.) BJORN ON THE BAYOU is a cool science fiction prison break adventure- though it suffers from too much comic relief, it still manages to have the feel of a mid-80's grade Z movie. As for the title? I'll let you find out.

No major beefs here, this supplement is well done. One of the adventures from the First edition supplements wasn't reprinted (GA-MAY-RAH VS. THE SPACE ASPARAGUS), but that's okay (it was decent, but nothing amazing). It's a shame the line ended before much was done with it- I would've liked to see rules detailing how a Bad Space Opera is different from a Bad Slasher Flick, how to appropriately stage a Bad Japanese Rubber Monster Movie without making the players feel like they're on the sidelines, etc. As with a lot of out-of-print RPG's I've reviewed (next time I'll try to find something still available, I swear), I'd like to see this given another go. In the meantime, I'm off to plan TYRANNOSAURUS TEX 2: WRATH OF THE LIZARD WIZARD.

Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
Substance: 4 (Meaty)
