When I got Fantasy Bestiary, I was really happy. No more facing thousands of generic creatures. Now I have hundreds of cool creatures to challenge my players... Too bad I didn't know only 1/3 of the whole book was actually good. Unlike most Gurps books that I own, Fantasy Bestiary was really disappointing.
Not that it doesn't have great drawings, or that it doesn't have a single good creature. It does, It's just that there aren't enough quality monsters to use. Most of them are what I call "mix" Like "This creature has a head of a hippo and a body of a horse" or "This creature is half chicken and half monkey" You see most of the monsters in this book is like that, boring hybrids , with only a couple of exceptions. The description for each creature was great, though, and they included all the stats for every creature. Too bad I'll only usea third of the creatures in here. Not because of the massive quantity, but for the lack of quality in the other two thirds
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
