Some of us like AD&D. At least we like the game. The price, however, is outrageous.
So this cheapskate(who happens to have access to a laser printer) figured that he'd just buy the Core Rules CDROM and be done with it.
So what's in it? Surprisingly much. The actual books are exactly like the print versions sans pictures, which was the only real downside(especially when it came to the Monstrous Manual). While the books are excellent(of course), the Character Creation is rather poor. Being new to 2nd Edition, I didn't really understand what I was doing, and the tool didn't help. Dice Roller Why the heck do I need a program to roll my favourite 20-sided dice? Dice are the best part of the game! Map Maker Pretty good, but requires creativity. I thought that this was going to be great for working on my current campaign. I was disappointed. Campaign Mapper Why the heck does this look like Adobe Photoshop?! Encounter Software Pretty awful, as you have to supply the location and monsters encountered. Not really worth using.
