Set in the Renaissance, The Sorcerers Crusade is a book about the clash between Magick, Faith and Science. It tells us a different view of history, but based on actual historic facts. In the Dark Ages, people were just slaves of the darkest powers. Vampires, Werewolfs, Wizards and Witches ruled the lands, and people could just stand still, waiting for their time to come. By the turn of the 13th century, the first Enlightened Scientists met and decided to war on supernatural beings that threatened mankind. As this order rised, the traditional Magi throughout the world gathered to deffend themselves, but it was too late. The Renaissance started the end of the Mythic Ages, and Magi had no place among mankind anymore. Or maybe they do? This is a game about a clash of Paradigms. Like it's father, Mage: The Ascension, it brings forth all the advantages and perils of being an Awakened. Now, I do believe that the Renaissance had to be the historical setting of Mage (like Dark Ages was the setting for Vampire and the Wild West the setting for Werewolf). It is here when the Order of Reason began their plan of shepherding the masses, although at this time they didn't have a clear path (they don't have it even now!). The world changed completely in just a few years, and Mages (or Magi) were forced to adapt to these changes. As in the modern day game, here you can run almost any story you could possibly think of. Want to go exploring the new lands? Go on! Want to be the first man to construct a flying machine? Leonardo would be proud! Want to run a story about demonic possession? Or maybe the Inquisition? They are all at your hands. With a great layout and an even greater background, The Sorcerers Crusade stands real high!
Style: 5 (Excellent!)
