This is a roleplaying game based on the popular comic book by Stan
Sakai. Set in something like Feudal Japan, except the people are all
talking animals, the series follows the exploits of a ronin called
Usagi, his friends, associates and enemies. The roleplaying version
by Greg Stolze is very faithful to the comic and includes many tidbits
and behind-the-scenes peeks at the many adventures of Usagi.
I was a little dubious of the game at first, since the Fuzion system has not impressed me all that much. However, this is a light, stripped-down Fuzion, custom-fitted for Usagi's world. It's a good fit, and finally hints at the potential of the Fuzion system. The art style takes a little getting-used-to, like any unfamiliar artist. But Sakai's work is good, and peppers the book like little windows into the Empire. Bottom line: A must for Usagi fans, and a welcome addition to any roleplaying library.
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
