I've been an anime fan for 2 or 3 years now. In that thime I've had the oppertunity to play a variety of anime based role playing games. By far the best I've played is Big Eyes, Small Mouth.

This game is wonderful! It features a quick, dynamic combat engine that capture the feel (and multiple camera angles/takes) of anime style combat. Furthermore, this game has only a few rules, making it very easy to learn how to play. GMs everywhere will love the games adaptability to absolutely any genre of game the want to run, from contemporary horror to ancient samurai and yes even giant mecha. The game was ingeniously designed by author Mark MacKinnon, who strives to produce quality game of extremly high playability!

In my opinion he has really hit the mark with this one! The rule book itself is small and highly portable, and like I said before, it has everything you need in one book! No hefty backpacks full of supplements for this game! All you really need to play is the rule book, a couple of character sheets, included with the book, and a mere 2 six sided dice!

As for the artwork in this book, overall it is excellent. Featuring many clean, sharp pictures by some very talented artists. The feature artist is a girl by the pseudonym of AIMO, and from the looks of this game she may have quite a career in the illustration biz.

If you're strapped for adventures after reading the rule book (why you would be I have no idea) the game contains a variety of 'game seeds' for a variety of seetings. Each seed can easily be 'grown' into a complete adventure with a little imagination. All in all Big Eyes, Small Mouth is a game set in the dynamic world of anime, and truly captures it's look and feel. Definately a five star game!
