This classic is interesting to look now, so many years after it was published and so many changes to the hobby. The simple system contained in these pages are more roll-play than role-play. It lays out the original Flash Gordon story as a multi-path maze, like a "choose your own adventure" novel. Teams of players navigate through the maze, meet specific challenges in each new area they enter and roll dice to determine their success. Certainly not the role-play we know today, but a good example of its foundations.
I like this oldie but goodie for its source material. Each of the major nations/areas of Mongo receive a general description. Hazards and personalities are identified as well. Although not a Flash Gordon campaign book on its own, it provides a great deal of support. The art is from the original comic and the writing is well done (Lin Carter being an accomplished author). Definitely a collectors item, its value a personal matter, if you find one, look and judge yourself.
