"Perdition's Daughter" is the first in the Dime Novels series from Pinnacle Entertainment Group. The concept is quite simple, inexpensive modules with flavor fiction in them that any GM, especially a beginning one, could pick up, read and then run. While the simplicity of the Dime Novel concept does cause linear modules the authors are careful to make sure that unexpected surprises from players are addressed.

"Perdition's Daughter" is based around the concept of an evil cult which is headed by a vampire creature which feeds on the souls of her paritioners to sustain her immortality. The story begins with the players being hired by a mine owner whose son has been seduced and recruited by the sinister Lady Carstairs (the pseudo-vampire). He wants the characters to "rescue" his son from the cult for a good chunk of change. The Lady Carstairs, in the mean time, has her own plans. She intended to preside over a ceremony which will drive her followers into a killing frenzy and then feed on the anguished souls as they are released from the dead and dying followers. Toss in undead creatures, brainwashed cultists and one tough hombre gunfighter and your players are in for an entertaining evening.

This module is a bit heavy with the combat, but there are plenty of opportunities for role-playing and investigating for non-combat characters. If you're a Deadlands GM this is a pretty safe bet of providing your players with an enjoyable adventure.
