The once fading Palladium Fantasy line has received a spark of new life with the release of three new supplements within a year and the most recent one being Mount Nimro: Kingdom of Giants. The man behind Mount Nimro is Bill Coffin who has taken this small region of the Palladium world and crafted a masterpiece. Mount Nimro and Nimrod are two volcanoes that are constantly erupting and are rumored to be the creations of the Old Ones; beings of ultimate evil. The region is isolated from the major human kingdoms by the Baalgor Wastelands, the monster infested Old Kingdom, and the Yin-Sloth Jungle. The Mount Nimro region has also caught the eye of Warlord Blackrock and with a massive giant army he was able to kill the Gromek who inhabited the region and build the Kingdom of Giants.

Mount Nimro is a book about giants and their society. It details the major fortresses and the eighteen clans that make up the Kingdom. Each clan is given information on their area of operation and leader of the clan complete with stats. This section takes up a large chunk of the book and at times it reads rather dry, but the source material is solid. Each clan represents different gaint groups whether they are Nimro(Fire Giants), Jotans(Earth Giants), Gigantes(mutated giants), Cyclopes, etc.

As you may have expected this book also gives you information on running campaigns using the monsters races of Palladium Fantasy. There are guidelines on how to run a giant campaign. Although the guidelines are bit sparse, it still does a decent job of pointing you in the right direction should you want to try something different. If that wasn't enough there are also four new character classes and the Gigante Warlord racial character class.

The four new classes are the Blade Priest, Conjurer, Life Force Wizard, and Were-Shaman. Actually two of them are updated from other sources and one is a RIFTS refugee. The Conjurer, as seen in Federation of Magic for RIFTS was an interesting class that was severely limited by the technology of that setting and being brought over to Palladium Fantasy has put new life into it. Another interesting class is the Life Force Wizards who are actually Gromek spell caster that have been sleeping since the Time of a Thousand Magicks and mysteriously awakening. These strange wizard steal their enemies life force and use it to power their spells.

The Were-Shaman is actually the 1st Edition Druid who uses totem animal spirits and is more of a beastmaster then the 2nd Edition version. The Blade Priest is a completely new character class that based around the Pantheon of the Blade, a group of evil giant gods who promote war against the fair races(humans, elves, dwarves, etc). The order is heavily militant and has become the official religion of the Kingdom of Giants.

To top off this host of new information is nine new rune weapons, a complete adventure, and a bunch of new hook, line, and sinker mini-advertures. The Rune Weapons are complete with history, power, and curses. The adventures are solid and interesting. Mount Nimro is packed with great information and is well worth the money.

Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
Substance: 5 (Excellent!)
