I never cared for the Angelic Player's Guide...it just seemed kind of boring. The Demonic Player's Guide was a little better (I should have known this because C.S. Lewis said that it was always easier writing about something from the viewpoint of evil, rather than from the viewpoint of pure good), but still lacking essential newness and surprise. Yet this book...on mere mortals is a revelatory masterwork regarding those poor mortals that the celestials are always fighting over. You might consider this to be the world's best book on sidekicks.
The book contains rules that have been scattered throughout the Revelations series, but it mostly expands upon the role of mortals in the war between heaven and hell. This is good meaty stuff, and even though it doesn't mince words on the weaknesses of mortals...mortals are given their just due here. You will find sorcery, saints, undead, ghosts, and zombies within these pages. This is a rich resource for both campaign and character information that gives a different perspective on the In Nomine universe. I highly recommend this book, and would consider it to be an essential purchase after the main rule book, because the rules in here aren't mere expansions of what is in the main book, but are instead great new stuff! I give this book an "A."
Style: 5 (Excellent!)
