Axe of the Dwarvish Lords | ||
Very much like The Return to the Tomb of Horrors and Undermountain, Axe of the Dwarvish Lords is a long and drawn out adventure. Only characters of extreme levels and players of good quality can hope to survive.
Unfortunately the inside art is just not that good. I found it a little flat at times and mostly just ok. The maps are easy to read and understand, but once again they decided to place most of the maps in a insert, that of course is easy to lose or become damaged. Luckly not all the news is bad. The content is a very good adventure. It has a style to it, and some new, fresh ideas. The adventure has incorporated into itself many elements of the battle system, giving the low level monsters a fighting chance against, the body count hungry, high level PCs. GMs should take note and not use these ideas against low and mid level PCs, unless they feel like being sadists. There is a handful of new monsters and magic items to give your PCs some new surprise and some very interesting incounters. If you need a new thrill for your PCs and have some time on your hands the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords is a good buy.
