I like details. They are so darn useful at times too...such as when one of your players wants to know exactly how long it'll take the local smith to make a suit of armor. Well, since my blacksmith skills are nil, I always ended up making a wild stab in the dark that may or may not be the same later.
Not anymore. Iron Crown has published the perfect book for a GM like me...And A 10 Foot Pole is a look at technology through time. Each epoch, and they range from The Stone Age to The Information Age, comes with a short introduction to that era followed by a comprehensive chart. Each chart contains information on food stuff, clothing, weapons and new technology of the times. Preparation times, costs, weight and availability are included with each item. The result is a gamers encyclopedia that'll help keep things consistent in the campaign world. A short chapter on the economics used helps put the entire book in perspective and gives the reader a baseline from which to measure the value of each item. This allows easy conversion into whatever units of money you are currently using in your game. The author even provides an estimate on how much the average person makes to help show the cost of living per epoch. This book isn't going to be for everyone. But, if you are detail oriented this is the perfect thing to own.
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
