Vimary is one of the first sourcebooks for Tribe 8. It follows in the tradition of the main rulebook with beautiful style and plenty of content, but is sometimes hard to read and is riddled with GM-only information all throughout, restricting its usefulness to players.

Like the first book, Vimary is beautifully illustrated. It starts off with a stained glass image of the Fatimas, and conveys the feel of Tribe 8 very well throughout the book. The art is strong and consistent; the maps well-defined yet not computer-perfect.

Unfortunately, this gives more work to the GM, deciphering exact distances on the maps, figuring travel times, etc. The back cover is dark enough that the text is near-unreadable; some of the fonts inside give me similar problems unless I'm in close to perfect reading conditions.

Content-wise, it's great. Vimary comes even more alive then it did before, and additional information is given on the evil yet seductive Z'bri. Information is nearly always given from a first person point of view, giving leeway to the GM to change what he doesn't like. Wars and rumors of wars are rampant, and there is plenty of room for the PCs to make their mark in tribal society.

However, GM information and player information is not cleanly delineated. I would never allow a player to simply read straight through the book - the parts that really should be GM-only are never marked. However, the wealth of information provided makes it cumbersome to repeat to players. A slightly different organization - or at least, marking which sections should not be read if you're not running the game - would help tremendously.

All in all, though, this book is invaluable for Tribe 8 fans.
