You are a god. No, really.

How many times have you heard that before in modern gaming? You are a God BUT the Antidiluvians are bigger better Gods who won't hesitate to put the smack down on you if ya get outta pocket. You are God BUT fer Chrissakes avoid the Coalition States. You are a God BUT...

Eliminate it. You are a GOD, Free to do whatever Gods do. Wanna smash a villiage? Done. Wanna Raise the dead? Turn into a bull? Spout babies from your forehead?

Done and done. There's just one little problem. All those conniving, backstabbing surly little maggots you seem to have gathered as friends along life's way? They're Gods too.And they may not like the plan you have for the world.

In Deus Ex, you play a member of the pantheons of "The Mystic Domains." Despite the fact that all of the characters are pregens, there is enough leeway and choice that you'll find one that suits you at least about as well as one you'd created yourself, if not better. Also, a great many of them can change gender, so no worry about Gods versus Godesses and player balance.

The system is fairly straightforward. You wanna do something, you most likely do it, unless it's really rediculous and spectacular and even then your chances are reasonable. The system and powers are based off the Tarot deck (something no gamer ever has, is never willing to show off, and is never ever used to impress the opposite sex.) The last part of the equation is a simply ingenious system of "Holy Days" a simple but sticky timing situtation necessary to power your divinity.

Added up, the experience of Deus Ex brings new life to the art of live gaming, and certainly alleveiates the tedium of 'A strange Kindred with unusual powers has entered the city. The elders call a conclave when...'You get the picture. Most Live games suffer from the problem of making new and shy players feel powerless, but powerlessness is not a factor here.

To top it all off, the Author/GMs are really good guys. It's worth a look. Just skoot on over to www.thalcos.com. Tell 'em Mangoth sent ya.You'll get a free balloon.

I promise.

Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
