When I first heard about The Last Warhulk adventure I have to admit that I was expecting something out of Keith Laumer's (did I get that right?) Bolo series. A giant sentient machine goes on a rampage of terror. YAWN!

First problem-there ain't no giant. Warhulks have been hinted at as being huge and menacing. This is tiny! The Azhanti High Lightning could kick this ship's tail. I was expecting the disappointment of modular maps of this great whale of a ship. I got a guppy instead, with all the maps compressed onto two pages.

Second problem-after the excellence and wonder of the production design of the Alternity series to this point (though Dataware was a letdown), the look of this module was terrible. Several…a long time ago TSR put out a series of Gazetteers for its D&D world. These things started out slow, but gradually picked up steam. You'd get this sourcebook, with cool new rules, some came with board games…they were just fun imagination sparkers, and most were printed in the smallest print possible. They were filled with information. Well, later in the series, someone at TSR must have gotten wind of how much was being put in these modules, and all of a sudden it was old people type. I'm talking fonts so big you didn't need a magnifying glass to read them with! I've seen large print Bibles that used smaller print! This module uses the some print size as most of your large print Bibles on the market…trust me, I know these things.

Third problem-there's been a lot of build up for such a bleah adventure. They could have shrunk the print down and released this as a 32 page module for less money. And they could have made it a cruiser or something. As it stands this module is disappointing because it isn't what it said it was…The Last Warhulk. There's no hulk here.

I give this module a "D." It just feels slapped together. Typical of TSR when they create new worlds. They'll have a great opening, and the quality will quickly deteriorate, which is a shame because the Star Drive setting has a lot of promise to it. The art is poor, though the cover is awesome. I just felt that they weren't trying. I wasted my time reading this one…I wasted my money.
