Psi Wars focuses on how psychic powers can effect dreaming. Also included are many new tidbits, that can flesh out your Conspiracy X campaign. A new weapon range table is also included. Most of the book deals with an adventure, that could become the beginning of a campaign. Even if you don't run your player characters through the adventure, you can use it's global events, in your own campaign.
There are 4 areas covered, that deal with dreams. The first is a new skill, called Lucid Dreaming. This skill can allow you to stop outside influences from effecting your dreams. It is also required to use psychic powers, while asleep. The second is to travel the astral plane, while you are asleep, by use of dreamwalking. The third is to enter another persons dream. Once there you can talk to them, or change their dreams. The last is night terrors. A psychic can send another person a nightmare, which can lower their mental stability. Mental stability, fear, and insanity are some of the new rules for Conspiracy X. Agents often come upon horrifying situations. Repeated exposer, without treatment, can cause an agent to start acquiring phobias, and eventually insanity. Mental stability is a measure of how unstable a character is becoming. The process is much slower then it is in CoC, but along the same lines. Most of the new resources are an expanded vehicle list. With the expansion of alien technology, a new chart, showing the RP cost of various items, has been included. Two new credentials are introduced and four new traits are given. New guidelines are given for how to determine what information can be gained through credentials, and connections. A graphic description of the effect of hazardous materials on humans is given. This section comes with a warning label. Most of the book deals with a grey plan to kill humanity, by driving them insane, with night terrors. The greys are monitoring human psychics and sending them nightmares, in an attempt to drive them insane. In the adventure a member of the players cell would be targeted by the Greys. In order to stop the nightmares, the cell would needs to locate the Greys responsible, and kill them. This would only stop one of many groups of Grey',s around the world, who are doing the same thing to other psychics. Even if you don't want to run your players through this adventure you can still have any psychics, in your campaign, be effected by the night terrors, for a time, without knowing what is happening to them. This dimensions of the book are smaller then the other source books for Conspiracy X. There are less pictures, but all of them are good. I am glad that Eden Studios cares enough about the opinions of the players, that they plan on publishing their ideas, in a high quality format such as this. I am looking forward to the next Bodyguard of Lies.
