Rats, now I'm all weepy. This comic book is devilishly humorous, but also poignant. The tale of near-love with Wendy the goth in the live action run was heart-wrenching. And a cute goth to boot, what more could one want?

Times like this, I wish I'd designed the review form to have a '6', sort of like Spinal Tap's "But this one goes to 11". Mostly because I rated Dork Tower #1 at 5/5, but fell for #2 even more. 6/6, definitely. (As usual, www.kovalic.com has samples).

The humor is very cutting and yet all too real. But the extended situations that the characters get into really push this work into new settings and add to the humor.

It's just so darn sweet! (In case you can't tell, I really liked this book). To compare it with the other big RPG funny book, "Knights of the Dinner Table", the two neatly bookmark the entire industry.

KoDT does a good job at showing how players resolve real-life issues within the context of the game. The KoDT folks are gaming all the time-- they exist only around the table (except for the occassional Weird Pete excursion or disasterous side trip). Whereas Dork neatly shows when games do leave the table and try to go into the outside world.

KoDT looks at gamers while they game, and Dork looks at them when they they aren't gaming. Oh, sure, they two experiment and shift scenes and sometimes cover the same territory, but they are so distinctly different, and both so darn entertaining, they're definitely worth getting.

I can't wait for Dork Tower #3. Please, give me my fix now!
