Let me start by saying this is the first source book I have read from White Wolf, but not the first time I have read a White Wolf book.

Gurahl is the source book for the werebears in the Werewolf: The Apocalypse game from White Wolf, and I have to say, it makes me want to play a bear. It starts with a neat comic book type of story (art work very similar to the new space game WW has put out) that tells you the story of a newly transformed werebear and his teacher. It's a good lead in to the book, which gives you tons of information and stories to explain the place of the Gurahl in the war against the Wurm.

It tells you of the 4 different tribes of the Gurahl, their manerism and their specialties. It gives you the history of the Gurahl and how they had a falling out with the werewolves and what the standing is now. There are stories of how the Gurahl were almost wiped out and how they are just now starting to come back to this world. The stories in the book have a very big Native American feel to them, which helps bring out the life in the book itself. Even if I was not interested in the system mechanics of playing the Gurahl, it is nice to read stories in a source book that have this kind of richness.

I could go on, but let's just say that there is a lot of information stuffed into this under 20.00USD. Over all a really good read and full of information on the Gurahl.

Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
Substance: 4 (Meaty)
