When White Wolf released the Book of Nod, it was a compelling piece of background literature for the V:tM game. It told the complete story of the mythical father of the Kindred, Caine, and did so in a way that was interesting as well as informative. The recently released Revelations of the Dark Mother promises to do so about Lillith, the Dark Mother that showed Caine how to properly use his unnatural abilities.

Sadly, the book is a far cry from its predecessor.

I want to say this book is interesting or useful in any way but I can't think of any. The book of Nod was at the very least quotable. This book comes off like bad vampire poetry. The Lillith cult goes beyond just Kindred and expands to other Awakened beings but this book made it hard to care. This book just seems like an excuse for that one type of gamer that just HAS to play something against type (i.E. the guy who ALWAYS wants to play a Werewolf in a Vampire Chronicle or an Imperial in a Star Wars campaign) to try and come up with another different type of character to play. This is a short review, and I know it. Don't buy this book. Hunt down a copy of the Book of Nod instead. If you want an interesting treatment of Lilith, see In Nomine.
