Twilight of the Clans is a scenario pack for Battletech. It continues where the scenario pack, "The Dragon Roars" left off. This time the scenarios cover the actions of the New Star League's Task Force Serpent on the Smoke Jaguar Clan's homeworld of Huntress.
There is the usual history and background of the campaign, which the Inner Sphere seems to have won by the skin of their teeth. In the previous scenario book, "The Dragon Roars", the Smoke Jaguars had their heads handed to them by the Draconis Combine. In "Twilight of the Clans" the New Star League forces are nearly wiped out before reinforcements arrive and ensure their win. It includes a Battlespace fight, nine Battletech scenarios, and the table of organization of all forces involved so that you can play out Battleforce battles. There is also a Planetary Assault scenario covering the battle for Huntress at the strategic scale. I've only played one scenario from this pack so far, Scenario 2 "And in the Darkness Bind Them". It's a neat twist; Inner Sphere battle armor (in this case, a DCMS DEST team) vs Clan Elementals. It takes place inside the Smoke Jaguars HQ complex and is really just a down and dirty knife fight; no mechs. The Clan won the game I played (which would probably alter the history of the campaign) but it went so quickly and the IS player (me...) didn't really know how to handle IS battle armor yet, so we'll try it again. The Planetary assault game looks fun and I'll probably give it a try. I was hoping for at least one Batleforce scenario, but instead, they just give you the force lists and the names of the engagements and forces involved. I would have preferred a prepared scenario and record sheets. Is that asking too much? I don't think so. FASA's done it before with 'The Dragon Roars" and I strongly urge them to include the prepped Battleforce sheets with any other new Battleforce scenarios they may do.
