If I had to describe this book in two words, they would be: Plot Hooks a go-go (okay, four words)!
Reading through the will section (which is all you really need) will set off so many bells you'll be left wandering around, murmuring to yourself. Hell, three pictures from Mars will leave you going "Damn. Now how do I work THAT?" PoaD is the climax to the presidential election series started by FASA in Super Tuesday. Dunkelzahn the dragon was a candidate for President of the US (don't you have to be a native born citizen of the US to run for President?). Fasa sold a series of adventures where PCs could participate in the events surrounding the election. Well, to make a long story short, Dunkelzahn won the election. However, during the night of his inagural ball, Dunkelzahn was killed. Naturally, the death of a Great Dragon would have repercussions on the game world. But when that Dragon is president, it opens a whole new can of worms. The will itself is only 10 pages of the book. Of course, it's the most important pages. What happens in those ten pages essentially takes the Shadowrun setting and lays it on its ear. Among the contents of the will are the standard gifts (well, for a Dragon; he bequeaths a number of magical artifacts and related gear, as well as such mundane items as Fruitcakes and convertibles), and lots of neat stuff. The ones that will most likely be of interest to players will be the gifts that set events in motion. For example, Miles Lanier is the head of Fuchi Internal Security. This is a very important job. He gets 4 milion shares in Renrarku & a seat on their board of directors. Fecal matter, fan. Fan, fecal matter. I believe there's a sourcebook that goes into that matter as well. Dunkelzahn also leaves a number of groups a years worth of talon clippings. One of those is to the Head Hougan of the Carribean league. Problem? There is no head Hougan. Which sets off a little war. The best ones are the scavenger hunt bequeaths. For example: "To the first party to identify the victim in the accompanying photo and bring his five perpetrators to justice, I leave the access codes to my property in Paris," accompanied by a photo of a man being attacked by 5 hooded figures. There's a lot like that, including the aforementioned mars photos (is that a dragon skeleton?). This book rips open the curtains on the SR world and lets some fresh air in. Heartily recommended.
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
