To the unenlightened, the followers of the Church of Odin are a group of crazed zenophobes that are single-handedly creating large amounts of friction among the 12. To the faithful of Odin, they are the only chance humanity has to survive against the Brood, the Prometheans and those men who would sell themselves to Loki. To their foes, the followers of the Church of Odin - the Sigurd Archdiocese altogether- are capable, viscious foes.
This book tells the story of the Sigurd Archdiocese, from their founder Gunther Guttman and days as a small religion to their present status as one of the mightest of the 12. It discusses their often tumultous relationship with the other members of the 12, the new weapons of the Sigurd military forces, fighter wings, new fighters and scenarios featuring the Sigurd Archdiocese, and a listing of the worlds they call their own. The new weapons introduced in this book give a strong hint why the Sigurd Archdiocese is the powerhouse they are today. The Gauss Technology they possess gives them an instant edge over the other houses - one that the Sigurdians use happily. The new fighters used by the Sigurdians showcase their Gauss weaponry. There is the Dagger, the Hound, the Hammer, the Storm and Storm II, the Longboat and the Iceberg. Additionally, the Sigurd Archdiocese fields a few refits of well-known Silent Death fighters - the Spirit Rider III, the Glaive III, and the Pit Viper III. The six scenarios pit the Sigurdians against a variety of foes - the hated House Colos, pirates, Draconians, and the Date Sphere. One of the scenarios is a huge, four battled affair, detailing a campaign against House Colos for possession of an asteriod belt filled with valuable metals. No real suprises in the layout of this book. Silent Death books always rate a "good". Not stunning, but not shabby, either. Easy to read and find what you are looking for in. Overall, this book does an excellent job of detailing one of the most important players in the 12. The Sigurd Archdiocese, infamous for their powerful beliefs and animosity toward most of the other powers, are certain to be among the most loved or hated forces in Silent Death. This book gives you what you need to understand them.
Style: 4 (Classy and well done)
