Hack For MoreMore Filler: B-Festby Edward McEneelyFeb 01,2005
| Hack For MoreMore Filler: B-FestI'm not a convention-attending type of guy. I freely admit, I feel out of place amongst the faithful who flock to them every year. I fail to derive, I suppose, the level of enjoyment from being around other gamers that would make such events worth the entrance fee. I imagine most of you would feel the same way at a Society of 1914 meeting. That being said, there is one even I attend every year; the amazing, the absurd, the incomparable B-Fest (www.b-fest.com), held every year at Northwestern University (for my friends in foreign lands, it's like Harvard, but only for the beautiful and stupid). It is, quite possibly, the greatest thing to be done in the realm of cinema since, since, since...well, forever. Twenty-four straight hours of atrocious movies, oh boy! I love it. If MST3K had a LARP (and if I didn't dislike LARPing so much), this would be it. Anyway, that's what I did with my weekend, and (in case my editor is wondering) why I'm once again testing the actual limits of the deadline policy. Of course, that doesn't explain why this is just a filler column, and I'll get right down to that right now. The players, as Valentine's Day arrives, find themselves more or less, depending upon who they are, committed to other projects. Now, I'm not going to name names here, but certain people have essentially ensured a steady stream of filler columns from now until after V-Day, as it were. Thanks, guys. At any rate, I'm still plowing along, trying to get the kinks worked out of this bloody Steampunk campaign before we meet up again. But in the meantime, I'm going to have to figure out what to do to keep this column rolling along, before I lose the ratings game. So, next week: something exciting! No, really, I promise. | |
