This is my DM program of choice...it is very quick and easy to use...plus it works really well with my spontaneous and freeform DM style-everything is right in front of me and allows me to do what I need to, when I need, how I need to. Need to look up a rule, monster, item, feat, spell, or skill..its all within a click of the mouse! Got some homebrew rules that you wanna remember, you can add them with ease! I've already entered all of my d20 book library (which is extensive) and I don't even need anything other than my laptop at the gaming table anymore!
Its dice roller is very easy to use and easy to get to, not to mention fully customizable and it even has a field to enter "special" die rolls (whenever you need to roll 100d4 25 you can!).
While DM Familiar doesn't have a Character Gen, it doesn't really affect me at all since I still prefer to make my NPC's the old fasion way (sitting on my bedroom floor surrounded by my library of books and pen and paper).
My favortie things about this program though, are the Combat planner and the support it has from its programmer. The combat board is really what helps speed up game play by keeping track of initiative, hps, monsters, even durations (for spells, powers, and effects).
Shining the most out of all these features is the support! Since I've bought the program there have been many many updates..Now with most software I don't look to highly on having to have patches every other week for software that I buy...but DM Familiar is different..cause they're UPGRADES..each one has ADDED even more usefulness to the program, most of the added features have been direct requests from the DM Familiar Users! The developer is very very good at listening to what his customers want!
