Resources on the Web

General Information

I have decided to put a resources file here - mostly for my own benefit. There are more and better indexes out there in cyberspace which I encourage you to use. I don't intend for this to be much more than an introduction, I've no grand designs for a comprehensive list since the lists maintained by Mikko Saari, Shade, and RPGnet are already well enough maintained and I encourage you to use them (also, please let them know you appreciate their efforts). This is just a starting off point.

If you find a bad link or know of an excellent resource that ought to be listed here, let me know. Contributions can be mailed to Dr. Phillips via email to phillips@nccu.edu.tw.

Warning: Some of these sites address mature themes and subject matter or contain adult content. They will usually have a warning tag and/or a warning on their opening page, but sometimes they don't. If you are a minor of if you prefer not to view such material, then you should proceed with caution. You are responsible for your own web surfing.

Index

Please, when you find someone's site useful, let them know you appreciate their hard work. That way they'll be more likely to keep their pages up to date and online.

Particularly Useful Resources

Interactive Drama Companies

Here are companies and publishers which professionally produce Interactive Drama. This is by no means an exhaustive list - I just don't have the resources to be that comprehensive. If you would like to add your own site here email me at phillips@cc.nccu.edu.tw and I'll most assuredly get back to you as quickly as possible.
  • Murder Mystery Parties to Go - More murder parties for various occassions.
  • White Wolf Game Studio - Publishers of the premiere (or at least most well-known and popular) live role playing game line: Mind's Eye Theatre set in the World of Darkness (Vampire, Werewolf, etc.) background. Many of you are familiar with the television series based upon their world background, Kindred: The Embraced. The folks hare have been very helpful to me and the help is appreciated.
  • HandMade Games - Here you'll find information and the like about Dark Confrontation, the non-contact live roleplaying fantasy game. Their Freeze newsletter has some useful info on Interactive Drama in general too.

Mind's Eye Theatre Troupes

The World of Darkness is often very gritty and dark. Some parents may find the themes too mature for young roleplayers. Others may only object to certain supplements (White Wolf has endeavored to distinguish between the mature and regular products but your mileage may vary). Personally, I don't find the material particularly objectional on these fronts but your children are yours to raise.
