A slight diversion based on the following snippet from the main article:
A gaming group may not always get along well, especially if not everyone in the group is happy with Secrets being kept from them, or "Evil" people acting against the party.
In a game centred around a strong party then I think it is fair enough for players to have some sort of veto over what kind of characters are allowed in the party. After all, you _can_ choose your friends and it is highly unlikely that characters with wildly opposing viewpoints would decide to buddy up to go off and risk life and limb together.
Secrets are another matter. It's not unreasonable to suppose that a character may have some things that s/he keeps even from the closest of friends. It doesn't even have to be anything bad. Of course, the "ha, I was working against you all the time" kind of secret can get annoying if overused.
