How do people approach leadership skill in their games?
(or any "character trait" or "skill" such as Fast Talk, Bluff, or Seduce)
I mean, lets assume the PC's are pinned down by heavy fire. A section of the pinning force suddenly takes off to the left. Now, anyone with even an armchair understanding of military strategy (like me) knows that this is a "pincer manoeuver" -- the pinning force will try to hold the PCs in place and the detachment will approach from the side and murderize them.
BUT lets assume that the PC has a skill like "squad leader" "tactics" "leadership" -- should I let him roll to figure out what is going on? Should I tell him to roll when that notion fails to strike his head?
