I'm thinking back over the last year, back when I heard that the second edition was coming out in the summer of 2001. I had gotten my hands on the first edition in January of 2001, and I loved it. Still do, in fact.
First edition Nobilis transcends role-playing games. It is more like a work of art than a game. Nobilis is like looking at the lost Monet while listening to Mozart's Requiem Mass. It is beauty, plain and simple. Of course, I had no idea how to run it, but that's okay. It's still a sweet read. (And yes, the system works.)
Now, I've been thinking back over the year of agonizing dissapointment as the release date was pushed further and further back. Okay, I thought. I can wait a few more months.
So, after a year of waiting, here it is. R. Sean talks a good talk, but I'd still like to see how it will come together. So far, it sounds like there's going to be a big push towards playability. But will the style of the book remain? Will the new Nobilis read like a gaming book, or like the first edition?
