As a former Marine - yes, we're a cult. (Just kidding) Seriously, though, the Marine Corps has more of a tradition of "questioning authority" then you might suspect. No, not in boot camp - obviously. But once you've been in for a while it is acceptable to "give input" - respectfully, within set parameters - as a way of developing one's own leadership skills and the ability to think on one's feet. I can't think of any cult that would encourage this mentality...
