While I agree that gamers should not assume that their own style is the only one that works, I think people should realize that sometimes they just don't belong in a group.
If you have a group of people who play one way, and you're the odd person out, certainly you and the group can benefit from the diversity. However, if you're not compatible and you're not enjoying things, it may be time to move on. If the group is unwilling to change its play style, it's not fair for the minority to cause trouble and disrupt the game. Move on. Find a group of like-minded players.
