Last year I took a holiday to Greece and bought a depiction of a saint, painted on wood. Thought it'd come in handy one day in a game.
That goes for the bronze mortar and pestle set, heavy as hell, but really cool. I also collect books in Latin (even if they are only bibles) and they're quite easy to find on eBay or on fleamarkets. I also found a catalogue of a German publisher from 1942 and a copy of a Dutch newspaper from 05/07/1937, the day after the Hindenburg went up in a blaze, with a gloriously large picture of the dirigible before the inferno. Last but not least, my grandmother gave me a Dutch bible from 1916, King James. Always nice to thump on the table. :)
Like Mithras, I really get a kick from finding these things...
Thought with me, it's evolved from finding props for roleplaying to just finding them for my own enjoyment.
