I probably shouldn't start this but talking of horror in fantasy (and I am aware that this discussion was based on D&D) put me in mind of fantasy systems that lend themselves to horror.

Specifically I thought of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay from hogshead (? I think?) which has all the requirements to be a truly dark and horrific fantasy setting.

It's got the splatter-horror of battles with orcs etc, the crawling terror of the undead and scaven (ratmen) and of course the pervasive corrupting influence of the chaos gods.

oh yeah and diseases. Lots of nasty, nasty diseases that make you lose things like your eyes or fingers.

I'm just wondering if any other fantasy games also lend themselves so readily to horror elements

Murph.
