Saw this movie on TV last night. It gripped me some much for 30 mins, I thought, this is just like some Cthulhu 2000 game I could be playing, great! Then we *saw* the CGI monsters - and BAM! it turned into some over the top action flick, paying homage to:

ALIEN
ALIENS
TERMINATOR 2 and ALIEN 4 (especially the underwater sequence)

Shit. It was a remake of ALIENS, but could have been so much more.

Lesson 1 of the Film: Don't show your beasty till close to the end.
Lesson 2 of the Film: Trap the bastards!! Your PCs must hve no way out of the horror. O how more terrifying it all becomes when you can't get away!!!

Lesson 1 was done best with ALIEN
Lesson 2 was done best by The Shining, ALIENS and The Thing.

Deep Rising 2 ot of 5 (starts incredibly well, plunges into shit)
