Very nice. You gave some very good ideas and some interesting takes on the concept of the Digital God. An intersting aspect of this would be the creation on Internet dead zones, areas that trap a user, perhaps created/monitored by one of these digital intelligences.
This could prove to be a unique way of adding to the Digital God's power base, kind of like how companies use extra memory from Internet users to sort through data or search the heavens for intelligent life. Users could either become comatose or have their personalities subverted by the creature/s "core programming," perhaps a set of pre-planned instructions that cause the user to act as though they were otherwise normal ... or as close an approximation as the digital intelligence can make.
This could potentialy be used as a springboard for a computer-based mystery/adventure. And it would add yet another danger to data-surfing.
Again, nice job, got me thinking.
