I like you, gave up on gaming at the beginning of the 1990s. For I was finding the games which called for heroic gaming were being transformed into vehicles of blah. I never even ventured into the realm of D&D 2e. However, the creativity that D20 has seemingly unleashed raises my spirits.
What would be the best adventure for someone who still longs for AD&D 1st edition and also introduce some new players into the game, albeit through the rear exit of the first edition? Can anyone help?
I would like to say my tastes were of old Gygaxian adventures but that would not be entirely true. For me the adventure that sums up the first edition was White Plume Mountain, a simple enough quest with lots of opportunity for role playing for introductory players who could do more than Hack & Slash or be killed off, a la Tomb of Horrors.
