Just a personal thing of mine but why is it that people feel forced to run a game with every rule in the book as if it was a mandate from above? If a rule isn't working for you then why not just ignore it? No game will ever meet everyone's wants and needs completely. Why do people force themselves to believe differently? It's almost like a form of massochism sometimes.
I understand that a game's systems should work towards the goals of your gaming group. I'm not talking about this. I'm talking about picking a system and trying to force it to do what you want and then complaining about it when it doesn't.
This is just one of the things which strike me as counter-productive behavior.
As always, just my 2 cents.
