I miss The Bard's Tale the most. Perhaps not the most revolutionary game in the world. It bearly was a step above wizadry. However, it still holds a place in my heart.
What other game can you say that you got killed just going to buy equipment? What other game had on demand music. Which other game was it a nesscity, no... a duty.. nay, a pleasure! to go out to the pub to get drunk! What other game has a wizard dolling out spell points to rake in the dough?
Not to mention all the tough word puzzles, the nessecity to keep more special equipment then you could carry, mazes that teleport and spin you around till you are completely lost.
Invisible walls, mad monks, a street that doesn't end... Man, I loved that game. I played that game for five years and still didn't finish it. Now that was a game!
*sigh* Wish they would make a game like that again.
