Alright - I know Plastic People isn't the best title. It sounds like an REM song. Toy Story was already taken and nothing else sounded much better (Ruckus in the Rumpus Room, Anarchy and Action Figures, Perils and Playrooms, Four and a Half Inch Heroes).
With the Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Small Soldiers movies and the Army Men series of video games, a beer+pretzels role playing game about the misadventures of action figures was a natural idea.
It's a bit of a longer column than we're used to seeing in 52 Pickup. But that's really because I was trying to provide an rpg that was ready to play out of the box. If you're in a hurry and want to get a feel for the setting, skim down to the adventure ideas.
Interesting sidenote: In September both Transformers and GI Joe made a comeback of sorts. The Transformers have a new cartoon on FoxKids that's based on the original incarnation from the 80s. The new GI JOE comic book from Image Comics also draws its inspiration from the 80's cartoon. The first issue sold well enough to go into a second printing. You can find out more about it at http://www.gijoecomic.com/
Anyhow.
Enjoy the column.
As always, feedback would be appreciated.
