Greetings All,
As I understand it, Color Wheel has a bag with eight dice:
red, yellow, blue
green, orange, purple
black and white
This means that:
* a character with no training at all has a 12.5% chance of success (the white die)
* a character with a "primary" skill has a 25% chance of success (the white die and their primary die).
* a character with a "secondary" skill has a 50% chance of success (the white die, their two primary dice, and the secondary die).
Although it dilutes the elegance of the system, you could add ratings to skills. For example, let's say that Gill has Yellow (Sushi): 2. This lets Gill make two draws out of the Palette instead only one. Changing his odds of success from 25% to (*Jon pauses and gets on the web to do research on probability*)... I'm so ashamed. I can't find the answer. It's better than 25%, and probably worse then 50%, though...
If I was better at the math, I could say this with more confidence, but I think that the following rules sound fair:
* a player can spend one white die point at the end of a session to take a primary-colored skill from 1 to 2
* a player can spend two white die points to take a primary-colored skill from 2 to a secondary-colored skill of 1
More thoughts later...
- Jonathan
