I mean, clearly Mearls loves it to death. So for him, it's worth it.
I guess though I'm interested to know WHY he loves it. Cos I'm thinking - if it doesn't pay squat, and if you get almost zip name recognition, if you're losing your entire social life (including your roleplaying time) so you can work like crazy (on top of your 9-6 hell in a dead-end, crappy job*) just to get 10,000 words in the back of a supplement for an RPG you despise...then maybe it might be more profitable to channel the same time into writing a novel, or something potentially more gratifying, financially and emotionally?
Maybe it's easier to break into RPGs? What prompted this course of action as opposed to another, I guess I'm asking.
I'm just trying to figure out if this is what I really want to throw myself body and soul into, before the throwing.
