"Thrud the Barbarian may have quite a way with the ladies, but who can tell whether the children he sired along the road to adventure survived, or are buried with their mothers along the very paths which he recently walked?"
That struck me as, perhaps, one of the single grimmest statements I've ever run across in a forum post (and I say this having personally argued -- mainly for shock value -- the pros and cons of the Holocaust).
That would certainly add a whole new dimension to a game, if handled properly. At the very least, it might set greaving family members to hunting down Thrud and killing him like a dog for what he did to their love one.
Just as an aside, I've really enjoyed this series of columns. Keep up the good work, Hilary!
