I used to play female characters a lot (now I've shifted back to male characters - mostly to balance out the gaming groups), but I have only one gender bending story to tell (for some reason none of my PCs- male or female - ever needed to disguise their gender).

The game is DC heroes and I'm playing Nemesis - my anime/Sailor Moon inspired alien. Now Nemesis has, as one of his powers, shapeshifting (he can't turn into a toaster, but just about any humanoid/bipedal lifeform imagineable). We were up against this group of Hallowe'en inspired thieves (a vampire, a wolfman, Frakenstien's monster and Igor, led by The Gentleman Ghost) and we were having problems - the worst problem was the vampire who kept hypnotizing PCs into attacking Nemesis (since my energy blast could cut through his toughness and his "gaseous form"/dispersal). The problem started when the vampire started hitting on Nemesis' GF (another hero, the cat-humanoid) and hypnotized her into having a crush on him (the vampire). Then he attacked the mentalist, putting him out of comission. Then he nailed the speedster (so when he saw Nemesis or the vampire he would think it was a villain and attack).

Tired of being attacked (and almost killed by his teamates, twice) Nemesis wracked his brain to figure out what was possibly the one form they would not attack. The speedster had a few... unhealthy infatuations with other established DC characters (the player was only a few steps behind the character). So Nemesis played mix and match - part Lois Lane, part Jesse Quick, and part Starburst/Power Girl (I can't remember anymore) - and calling 'herself' Eve she introduced herself to the team as a Project Cadmus-designed female counterpart to Superboy. We managed to capture the bad guys (the ghost got away though), and even removed the "Beast" (V:tM term) fromt he vampire (so now he was a happy undead guy, who even became a member of the team later on).

Despite the fact that the players knew what I was doing all along, the "unmasking" scene was priceless. The speedster (an avout heterosexual who didn't really like the wierd alien) promptly drank himself unconscious to get the image out of his head. And Cat, the girlfriend, shocked, just muttered "never do that again" and considered the case closed.

Nemesis never did do the gender bending thing again - unless you interpret the origin of Mercy, another member of Nemesis' race, to have actually been Nemesis in disguise (one of the great unknowable mysteries of the now 9-year running campaign).
