GUNS? And Whether They Should Be Used

Guns have been the most increasingly difficult weapons to play, it is used often but with great difficulty in a combat sequence. As players would then tend to be mortally wounded and will eventually die quickly and because there is no flexibility with it, players are having to rely on luck rather then fighting actions.

Realistically it is very hard to survive a bullet, not many games have incorparated this idea though. This is why after frustration of playing games where it takes a 100 bullets to kill someone and the enemies being shot once and slow and unreliastic reactions. there would have ot be a problem.

Of course, guns would be included if it would happen to be a strategic game, instead of continous action. Stealth would be useful and this will include a realistic feel as everytthing will be unnoticeable incase of a hard obstacle. Such as crawling throough vents if you have vents. Unlike melee weapons, the players and the DM'ers (if you have them) would find it extremely unmanourveable in large open spaces with enemy fire, and most of the shots will be counted on randomness of hitting (through dice)

Dice or coins would be an easier alternative to determine whether an action will be made or not but that will throw away statistics as such of the characters. the only use of guns for me would be in a situation where stealth, and timing would be used. if it were open combat. a similiar and boring pattern will occur

X aims, shoots, missed
Y shoots, hits
X aims, hits
Y aims
X shoots and hits
Y shoots, X is dead

Of course that will depend on your playing style, the use of guns would be upto the players themselves, but it is crucial they include some other actions apart from guns along with it too make it seem more interesting. What is everyones view on this?
