Now, based on the title for your column, I thought it was going to be quite different, and a point worth making. To wit: if you are interested in LARPs and going to a family group of any considerable size for whatever holiday, you have an unique resource to mine. Quite simply, what is a family gathering but an involuntary Theater Style LARP? It helps if there is a family business, or if at least someone is "estranged."
So watch the ways the politcs fit together, emotional and economic. Consider it practice for when you are out there. And if you are a designer, keep your ears open for any good ideas for new conflicts to spring on your players.
Hey, my extended family is the reason that I got into this mess.
